Masters frustrated Silver, wins for Eagles and Dwangwa: Malawi TNM Super League

Blue Eagles Football Club on Sunday beat Mafco FC 1-0 at the Chitowe Stadium to go fourth on the TNM Super League log table dislodging Civil Sporting Club who have now dropped to position five.

Mphatso Filimoni scored the only goal of the match with only two minutes into the first half.

Filimoni  has now brought his tally of goals to 10 is the current leading scorer in the elite league.

He is also the only player who has managed to score two hat tricks this season.

The other players who have registered hat tricks are Silver’s Victor Limbani, Jide Mbandambanda of Blantyre United, Vincent Nyaungulu of Master Security Services, Innocent Bokosi of Red Lions and Raphael
Phiri of Civil Sporting Club.

The Eagles now have accumulated 31 points from 18 games.

Silver Strikers failed to reduce their gap against leaders Mighty Be Forward Wanderers after they were held 1-1 against debutants Master Security in a game played at Dedza Stadium.

They gave away the lead after conceding late in the second half after Matthews Sibale had given the Central Bankers the lead earlier.

Francis Mkonda netted the equaliser of Master Security.

At the Mulanje Park Stadium, Wizards FC lost 1-0 to visiting Dwangwa  United who on Saturday drew 0-0 against Azam Tigers.

However, Dwangwa who return from their Southern Region tour with four points still remain in the relegation zone despite their impressive performance in week 21 of the league.

They now equal on points with Master Security who have a better goal difference.

The Nkhotakota based side now have 18 points from 19 games.

Meanwhile, Be Forward Wanderers are still leading the log standings with 41 points from 17 games.

Their traditional rivals Nyasa Big Bullets who on Saturday beat Red Lions 1-0 at Balaka Stadium come third with 34 points from 17 games while Silver are on second with 38 points from 18 games.
