Masters owner Gangata blasts his players, blame them for club disband

Masters Security Football Club owner Alfred Gangata has come out guns blazing, blaming the team’s players for the disbandment of  the TNM Super League side.

Gangata: Mess at Masters

The media has been awash with news that Gangata invaded his team’s dressing room after their two one loss at the hands of Civil Sporting on Saturday to tell them he has stopped sponsoring the team.

He is quoted to have told Times Radio’s Peter Fote that his withdraw from sponsoring the team is because some people bewitched the team so that it should be losing.

Popularly known as Migwanya, Masters currently anchor the 16-team league with 17 points from 24 matches.

Speaking during Soccer Show program on Zodiak Broadcasting Station which Nyasa Times was monitoring, the Migwanya One owner has however withdrawn this statement, saying his sponsorship withdrawal is due the manner in which his players conduct themselves.

“I have tried my part so that they play football but it has not worked… They are ungrateful, they are inhumane, they think they are the best”, shouted Gangata.

He added “I was just kidding that someone has bewitched the team please I should not be arrested for this and I withdraw those remarks.”

Gangata said he will give the players some money not because they have done something special but because he feels it is his obligation to help them.

Masters have been struggling financially and they were recently fined K1.5 million for failing to fulfil their league fixture against Mzuni FC.

Commenting during the same program, local soccer pundit Charles Nyirenda agreed with Gangata that he has contributed a lot to the game of football.

Nyirenda indicated that the format at which the local elite league is placed is not helping team owners but milking them their hard earned money.

“We have been asking about the benefit of being in the super league because I have people who have become rich and bought plots of land from football but they are not players nor team owners”, he explained.

Both Sulom and  FAM said they are yet to get official communication from the club.

This is not the first time a team has pulled out of the league while it is in progress as Max Bullets on also did the same after noticing lack of funds.
