MATCH WEEK 6: Silver Strikers Clings Top of TNM Log Table as Noma Wins, Bullets Drop Points

When some TNM Super League teams push forward, others get backwards through defeats and draws and in the process they drop points. In one of our focus matches, between Silver Strikers and Creck Sporting Club, we witnessed the home team pushing up log table to 16 points after a two-nil win on Sunday at Area 47, Lilongwe.

Idana: Player of the Match

The Central Bankers kept pushing till in dying minutes of the first half when Uchizi Vunga opened the scoreline from outside six yard-box after getting a pass from Chikondi Kamanga to make his team lead in the first 45 minutes of the match.

After the break, Silver Strikers continued to press forward more till their midfield maestro Chimwemwe ‘Gatuso’ Idana found the back of the net in the 61st minute of the match to make it two-nil through a rebound after Creck stopper Charles Chisale failed with power to clear the ball.

Creck Sporting Club struggled to hold the possession of the ball because the Central Bankers’midfield had won and intercepted much of the balls through Chikondi Kamanga, Uchizi Vunga and Chimwemwe Idana.

After 90 minutes, Chimwemwe Idana was voted player-of-the-match going away with a trophy and TNM Mpamba Cash-In of not less than K50,000.

In his summary after the match, Silver Strikers mentor Peter ‘Mjojo’ Mponda applauded his player for continued efforts to win the match and cling top of the TNM Super League log table with 16 points and open a three points gap down Mzuzu City Hammers with 13 points which beat Kamuzu Baracks on Sunday in Mzuzu.

Mponda said, “We had a focus and have won the match, because of the effort and dominance throughout the match.”

However, Mponda downplayed a query whether his team now complement sentiments of being in good form coupled with a better performance and described it as “Too early to call as there still more matches to play.”

Meanwhile, Head Coach for Creck Sporting Club McDonald ‘Nginde’ Mtetemela admitted about his team’s poor performance in the last six matches, but expressed confidence that slowly will be catching up and come back to winning ways.

“We know what we are doing as there still more matches to play and remember we are still in first-round. I have hope that things will change and will perfom better in coming matches.” explained Mtetemela.

Creck SC now seats on position 11, 7 points with 6 matches played just with same points with Dedza Dynamos at 9th position, Civil Service United at 10th and Fomo at 12th, but differ on goals scored and conceeded.

In other TNM Super League matches played on day two of Week 6 ended, Mzuzu City Hammers beat Kamuzu Baracks with Isaac Msiska’s first half only goal to nil , while Mighty Tigers and Dedza Dynamos drew one-all at the country’s soccer maker Kamuzu Stadium.
