Matola receives death threats after Malawi President Mutharika public threats

Peoples Party (PP) Secretary General y Ibrahim Matola is receiving death threats from anonymous elements following President Peter Mutharika’s public threat to deal with him for criticizing his governing policies.

Mutharika last Sunday mentioned Matola as one of the opposition members whom he said castigated him through a Tiuzeni Zoona program which was aired on Zodiak Radio .

“I was not aware of what he said up until someone brought me a recorded interview where Matola castigated me but, it’s quite unfortunate and my government will not tolerate that”, said Mutharika.

Matola said he has since been receiving threats that he will be dealt with be it a car “accident” or other means.

The PP secretary general a said whatever happens to him Mutharika will be accountable.

“I would like to let Malawians know that if I disappear killed in whatever way, then the President is liable,” Matola said.

Matola defended his interview on radio, saying he was “highlighting challenges” currently facing Malawians like the looming hunger, lack of security, lack of drugs in hospitals.

“And someone says I was wrong for stating these challenges. Mind you there are serious lapses in security under the DPP government and people are dying like chicken, If I die today just know that it is this government”, said Matola.

And please don’t fool us that it is other people taking advantage of what apm has said and can carry out the accidents or murders to discredit the govt, it is the govt carrying them and pretending to hide behind so called other people.

    Even after many years living abroad in exile or self- imposed exile in western countries claiming to be running from Kamuzu, many of these dpp educated thugs returned home to do exactly what they were running from, become even worse than Kamuzu regime. Educated fools, you didn’t learn anything from the western demicracy. Back to the barbarism you know very well. No wonder your friends are North Korea and China.

    Please change, make a 360 degree turn from evil minds. Constructive or non constructive criticism is part and parcel of democracy but you are making it a criminal offense punishable by death. Only an evil heartless mind can do that.
