MCP veep Msowoya denounces politics of ‘handouts’
The opposition Malawi Congress Party’s vice president, Richard Msowoya has urged people in the country to vote for educated and wise person that would competently lead the country, saying some of problems facing the country is due to lack of knowledge in good governance.
Speaking during a rally held by the party’s president Dr Lazarous Chakwera in northern Karonga district, Msowoya said that it is sad that leaders are busy donating maize and brackets to few people instead of creating job opportunity and making plans that should benefit the whole Malawi.
“Have you ever seen our founder (the late Dr Kamuzu Banda) donating maize that time? He left those simple jobs to the youths and organisation like Red Cross to do the job on his behalf because he was making plans that benefited people in Malawi. But because they don’t know where to start from and how to go about it that is why they move up and down doing things that are not for them,” said Msowoya.
Msowoya also condemned acts of violence in Karonga between supporters of ruling People’s Party (PP) .
“This is an indication that those people do not have vision on how to lead. There is no way people should be setting fire on someone’s house because of a party. I am from here and I feel ashamed when that is happening where I belong because I know that you people are wise and very educated so please do not allow someone mislead you,” he said.
The MCP veep urged party supporters to remain united, saying he and the party president Chakwera are united.
Msowoya also pointed out that people in the country don’t have any peace because many are facing hunger.
“We are so surprised to hear that they are saying that things are going on well in Malawi. Which economics books are they reading that say when people are suffering with hungry, high prices and failing to send children to school is good governance,” Msowoya queried .
