Minister Kanyumba in romantic triangle as 2 women fight
Labour Minister, Lucious Kanyumba’s wife on Tuesday this week caused a pandemonium at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre as she engaged in a verbal tirade with one of her husband’s mistress, a hotel waitress, Nyasa Times has learnt.
Eye witnesses told Nyasa Times that Kanyumba’s wife Caroline Dunga angrily stormed the hotel accompanied by a gang of rough-necks with an aim to beat up the minister’s extramaritial partner, Chimwemwe Mpalika, a waitress in the 21st Grill Restaurant at the hotel.
Caroline, the minister’s wife is alleged to be the woman the minister snatched from another man.
According to Nyasa Times sources at the hotel, the minister’s wife came with full force and prepared for ‘war’ against Mpalika, who she claimed is having an affair with her husband. She demanded that the hotel’s management sack Mpalika from her job because she is a “prostitute who sleeps around with customers and people’s husbands.”
The source said the hotel management had to call police after Kanyumba’s thugs overpowered the hotel’s security personnel to quell off the situation which left customer’s gobsmacked.
“It was a volatile and hot-tempered situation when the minister’s wife invaded the hotel demanding Chimwemwe’s head who out of fear went to hide and locked up herself in a toilet,” said an employee of the hotel who did not want to be named.
The source said it was horrifying situation as the minister’s wife walked around the hotel’s premises shouting and hurling insults: “Where is the bitch? Where is Chimwemwe? Come out and face me husband snatcher!”
The source told Nyasa Times that when the hotel’s management confronted Mpalika on the matter she denied being involved in a sexual relationship with the minister saying she only know him as a “regular customer” at the hotel.
A senior management staff member confirmed the incident but denied to shed more light on the matter saying the hotel is still investigating and could not be drawn to comment on the matter as doing so would jeopardise the investigations.
Blantyre police confirmed there was an incident at Ryalls Hotel in which a woman went there to confront a husband’s girlfriend but refused to divulge more information on the matter.
Efforts to contact Kanyumba’s wife proved futile as her phone kept ringing and went unanswered. His husband could not pick up the phone too. Mpalika was coy to comment.
Nyasa Times understands that the minister wife was also involved in another scuffle with another lady who she claimed was having an affair with her ‘hot-blooded’ husband and reported her to police but police told her to sort issues with her husband.
Wife Snatcher
It doesn’t just rain for Kanyumba but it pours heavily as this is not the first time that he has been rocked in a sex scandal. He has twice been accused of snatching other men’s wives including his own brother-in law’s wife.
First Kanyumba was accused of swooping his brother in law’s wife.
Mark Njoloma told local newspapers that Kanyumba was his brother-in law after the minister married his sister Ipyana in 1996 but that after his wife died, Kanyumba pounced on Njoloma’s wife, Mary in a steamy sexual affair.
Njoloma said when Kanyumba’s wife Ipyana, fell ill his wife Mary went to Kanyumba’s house to nurse his (Kanyumba’s) wife’s illness but while she his wife was on a sick bed Kanyumba started to bonk his brother in law’s wife. Kanyumba’s wife died of cancer in 2004 in a South African Hospital.
But Njoloma said after the death of his sister, his wife, Mary left their matrimonial home for Blantyre with their two children and only returned later accompanied by her uncle and her brother to demand a divorce before sweeping Njoloma’s house clean of his households.
Another man, Sam Chikumba who is now based in Saudi Arabia also accused the minister of snatching his wife, CarolineDunga from him saying his wife refused to join him on his trip to Saudi Arabia because she was in a sexual relationship with the minister.
Chikumba and Caroline have a daughter, together.
Caroline and daughter later moved in with the minister.
