Minister Mussa calls for rebranding tourism products at Malawi Night

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has challenged Local, regional and international buyers to rebrand Malawi’s tourism products that have been showcased during the 2017 tourism Expo.

Responsible Minister, Henry Mussa said this Thursday at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe during Malawi Night as part of the reception for all exhibitors for the 2017 “Takulandirani” Malawi International Tourism Expo,

He said Malawi has provided a lot of tourism products during the Expo which need to be marketed out there for it to grow further.

“I would like to appeal to all participating buyers to go out and tell prospective customers the truth about Malawi’s tourism potential for them to sample too,” Mussa advised.

He said Malawi would continued to strive to promote sustainable tourism which could help to conserve the environment and natural resources as one way of contributing to the country’s economic growth.

The minister said public awareness among local and international buyers is an essential tool to driving the industry in order to open up more avenues regionally and globally,

He cited Lake Malawi as one product which buyers need to promote as the tourists would be able to sample clean and fresh waters.

The Minister responsible for Tourism in South Africa, Tokozile Xasa promised to work closely with Malawi in promoting the tourism sector,

“Malawi has shown us that it is a potential tourism destination which needs the support of us all in the region and we need to be strategic in order to promote various tourism products within our countries,” she said.

Xasa said various players in the industry need to strike more deals that would be beneficial to the improvement of the country’s tourism products.

She assured the gathering that Malawi and South Africa would strengthen their relations and make tourism as a number one priority issue.

The Malawi Night patrons were entertained to local dances and had a feel of local dishes which were prepared by the Sunbird Capital Hotel.

The occasion provided one-to-one interaction among the buyers, exhibitors and various players in the tourism sector.
