Miss Blantyre theme song goes viral on internet
The theme song for the forthcoming Miss Blantyre beauty pageant has gone viral, with hundreds and hundreds of downloads just few hours after being uploaded on the internet.
Titled Miss Blantyre, the song was produced and performed by Pon-G and Weapon who expressed their excitement at the positive response the song is getting.
“We are getting positive feedback not only from local fans, but even people from as far as the UK who downloaded the song.
“This just shows the seriousness we put into this project to suit with the legacy of Miss Blantyre as the first and oldest beauty pageant in Malawi,” said Pon G.
A survey on the internet shows a sea of feedback poured in on mdubvibes.com which is hosting the song online.
“This is one of the best theme songs I have ever heard. I like the ‘Akon style’ in it, it’s so good. These guys have great talent. Big up guys”, commented one of the people who downloaded the song identifying himself as Critic Ear.
Another fan based in South Africa applauded these Chilobwe based young brothers for their touch of brilliance.
“I am in Pretoria and enjoying this amazing hit single. Loving the part ‘she is so beautiful, she is a model…ndi chiphazuwa, amawala ngati duwa…if you feeling this girl put your hands in the air’. But I expect a music video for this on You-tube”, Wrote Luweya on Malawi Breaking News, a page on Facebook which has promoted the song unstoppably.
Pon-G revealed that some scenes for the music video are currently being shot and its trailer is poised for premier at Miss Blantyre’s show.
Miss Blantyre is scheduled to take place at Malawi Sun Hotel early December with the winner pegged to walk away with MK350,000.00.
Samantha Crozier who is the Executive Director for RedRose commended the Suwedi brothers for coming up with such a brilliant song.
“These guys have talent and we appreciate the support they have given us. We know these days artists are rushing to compose political appraisal songs but here we have two ambitious brothers coming out to sing for what they are passionate about,” said Crozier, former Miss Malawi.
Crozier also revealed on Saturday during a photo-shoot for the Models that they will conduct a press conference to unveil the contestants and the official sponsors.
“We will soon call for a press conference to unveil our models who have passed the recruitment process. It was really a big task but we have finally managed to identify girl who met our requirements,” said Cozier whose daughter withdrew from contest after disagreements with other contestants who felt insecure to compete with her given her connection to her Mother.
BlackJack, Gwamba, Excess, Ayce James, BlackFace Family and LadyPace are billed to perform at the event which will be hosted at Malawi Sun Hotel in Blantyre on December 6.
