Miss Matofotofo contests start Oct 28
The Motofotofo True African Queen will start the 2011 edition of the beauty pageant for the big and fluffy women in the central region on October 28.
According to the reigning Miss Matofotofo, Florence Banda, who is organising this year’s event, the event has attracted about ten women to contest but said they are will registering other ore ‘fabulous and thick’ women.
“Women willing to contest are free to register. This year’s event will be great,” said Banda who works at Zodiak Broadcasting Services.
Banda sounded an appeal to the corporate world and individuals to support the event, saying true African beauty is in plump and big figured ladies.
Companies such as Sunbird Hotels, Andrews Hotel, Darling International, Capital Glass, Sunpet Enterprises and Intercontinental Designs have so far partnered with Miss Matofotofo to organize the event.
“There is great need to celebrate the pride of African women,” Banda told Nyasa Times.
The fully figured beauty queen, who recently married to her sweetheart, said ‘super-slim’ is no longer a pre-requisite for most beauty pageants.
Banda said the show is all about proving that big girls can have as much fun as small girls.
