Mist over Dzimkambani’s resignation as Karonga Utd coach

Karonga United Football Club says it is not aware of the resignation of its Head Coach, Dan Dzimkambani.

Dzimkambani announced his resignation to reporters after losing 1-3 to Ekwendeni Hammers last Saturday at Karonga Stadium.

“I would rather resign. I have good reasons to resign. This is a decision I have made because what happened today is terrible. The team is in good shape but I think there is something happening behind and I need to leave the stage for others,” said Dzimkambani on Saturday.

But General Secretary for the club, Ramsey Simwaka who on Saturday expressed worry over home results, says the club is not officially aware of Dzimkambani’s resignation.

“For us it is a rumour. As executive, we haven’t received any written communication from him to that effect. We may not know what problems he is facing. We are eager to hear from him so that we see how best we can iron out those problems.

“We can’t say we will miss him because he is still our coach. What we know is that he is still with us and he will continue working with us,” explained Simwaka on Tunfufye FM radio of Karonga Catholic Diocese.

But on Monday,  Dzimkambani said he had not yet made a final decision on the matter.

“A final decision has not yet been. There a number of internal wrangles that need to be sorted out. At the moment I cannot say I have reversed the decision or not.

“I cannot explain much because this an in-house issue. But I need to be assured of a free environment in which I can work,” Dzimkambani explained.

Meanwhile, soccer analyst Charles Nyirenda has asked people in Karonga to desist from interfering with the job of the technical house.

“Right now, Karonga United is a power house in the north. Moyale Barracks lost that prestige and it can’t go to Chitipa United either. So now it is Ekwendeni Hammers and Karonga United who are big in the north.

“Let there be no one who is not conversant with football administration be in the forefront disturbing the technical panel. This is a team that has punished giants recently and when teams travel to Karonga, they know it won’t be easy to collect points. So some people should not take the club as a personal entity,” warned Nyirenda.

He called for sanity at the club.
