Twenty-three year-old Kasonde, who hails from Lunzu, is among 50 TNM customers that won a total of K100 million the promotion the mobile service provider conducted in 2014 as part of the country’s 50 years of independence celebrations.

Each winner was asked to choose a social responsibility project of their choice worth K2 million, translating to K100 million.

Kasonde chose to buy K2 million worth of medical equipment comprising two theatre beds to help improve levels of service delivery at the hospital main theatre.

She hailed TNM for the initiative, observing that many will benefit from various social responsibility projects winners chose in their areas.

She hoped that the new equipment at the hospital will help reduce pressure on public medical facilities like Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

“On behalf of people from this community, let me commend TNM for this initiative which has not only benefit individuals but even the communities,” she said.

Board chairperson of the Board of Governors Elias Kambalame hailed TNM for the donation saying it will go a long way in assisting critical patients.

“We have an high independent unit which we set up recently and lack of equipment  was a major challenge and this assistance has just come at an opportune time” said Kambalame.

TNM’s Head of Blantyre Region, David Nyirenda said the hand over of the hospital equipment demonstrates company’s commitment in fulfilling its promises to customers in Blantyre and rest of the region.

“This is a life-changing promotion as prizes are going to worthy causes that will go a long way at community level. The current prize presentation phase demonstrates TNM’s commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility and meeting its obligations under Ufulu@50 promotion,” he said.
