Moyale salvage draw against Nomads: Malawi TNM Super League

Gastin Simkonda’s equaliser earned Moyale Barracks a point and denied Yasin Osman’s Be Forward Wanderers a victory they deserved at MDC Stadium in the TNM Super League.

Isaac Kaliati looked to have put the Nomads on course for three points with a sweeping left-foot finish from Mike Kaziputa’s cross.

The visitors had not had an effort on goal but secured the draw that leaves the Nomads to have a huge mountain to climb if they want to finish the League in top four.

Wanderers had controlled a game that was ordinary for long periods, with their keeper Richard Chipuwa making important interventions.

It was latest chapter in what is turning into a season of frustration for both Wanderers and Moyale in the League, as the two teams also shared points in the first round after a 2~2 draw.

Wanderers looked in control, restricted Moyale to a single opportunity and were full value for their lead until Simkonda struck an equalizer.

Moyale Coach Collins Nkuna left MDC Stadium happily having grasp this point with both hands after a desperately disappointing Moyale display.

The Nomads made some changes during the game with the absence of Alfred Manyozo, Foster Namwela, Jabikani Linje,Jaffali Chande and Francis Mulimbika.

Wadabwa started alone upfront with Felix Zulu coming behind him.

However, the Nomads saw their right back Stanely Sanudi limping off the field of play with what looks a serious injury.

Bello was also thrown in for Felix Zulu, while Ibrahim Sadiq came in for Kaziputa,as Malumbo Gondwe replaced Sanudi.

All in all both teams will need to be bolder and perform better against their opponents than this – but on this occasion they will take this draw and move on.
