Member of parliament for Lilongwe Msozi south on Tuesday surprised his colleagues on the opposition side when he said Malawi Congress Party (MCP)N president would win the 2019 election.
The veteran law maker, Vitus Dzoole Mwale, was contributing to the debate on mid year budget statement presented in the House on Friday by Finance minister Goodall Gondwe. Mwale said the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led government has literally done nothing on development in his area since President Peter Mutharika came to power in 2014. He said the clueless leadership was unlikely to be back in government in 2019 as Malawians are geared to vote for Chakwera and his MCP.
His contribution was interrupted several times as cabinet ministers and legislators from the government side questioned the authenticity of Lilongwe Msozi South MP’s allegations.
This was after Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development George Chaponda was stopped from answering questions in the House following chaotic scenes as the opposition law makers said they did not recognise him as minister.
Government chief whip Henry Mussa stood up and said Chaponda would not take more questions.
