According to GVH Lemu, the hailstorm which was associated with heavy rains happened on 17th December 2016.

“The accident happened on 17th December and we sent a message to the office of the D.C but nothing has been done. But we thank the UDF Constituency Governor for his flequent visits who after seeing the situation he promised to inform the MP and we are grateful he has come today” said GVH Lemu in an interview with Nyasa Times.

Commenting on the donation, GVH Lemu thanked Banda and appealed for more support from well wishers including the government.

“I and my people who were affected are thankful to honurable Banda for the donation. We almost gave up and we never expected such kind of assistance since it has taken over a month after the accident happenned. May God bless our MP,” said Lemu who almost lost his life after the roof of his house fell on him injuring his right shoulder.

Addressing the victims before donating the assorted items, Banda said he was saddened with the accident and touched after touring some of the affected houses.

“I feel very sorry for you my people on what happened. I came here just to say sorry but decided to bring you alittle something and when I go back, I will try to knock on several doors so that they assist us with necessary things that are needed,” said Banda.

“Before my coming here, I also talked to the District Commissioner about the issue and admitted to have received the report of what happened and he assured me that soon, his office will respond,” added Banda.

Some of the items Banda donated included Salt, Sugar, Bread, Maize Flour, plastic papers for roofing and Blankets.
