MP Mcheka Chilenje vows to work with DPP

The newly elected Nsanje North Constituency Member of Parliament Esther Mcheka Chilenje Nkhoma has revealed that she will be working with Professor Peter Mutharika’s Government in implementing initiatives which will help address problems her area is facing.
She cited construction of dykes along the rivers that flood out which she said will also help address the problem of food insecurity facing the Nsanje north constituents.

“I am very determined to work with the current government in an effort to come up with developments that will benefit my constituents. For instance; by intensifying irrigation farming so that people can plant crops more than twice a year.

Mcheka said her area has potential to feed the whole nation as well as improving the country’s economy.

“Though people in my area put more efforts in agriculture, they fail to transport their produce to different cities because of poor road networks. We have a Thabwa – Bangula road which needs tarmac. I am sure that once it has been constructed it will improve the country’s economy since transportation of produce to other districts will not be an issue,” she said.

The MP elect also said she is very concerned with the floods from Thangadzi River which have been impacting negatively on production at Muona Rice Irrigation scheme.

“Flooding is one of the problems I and the government will thrive to address as it is impacting negatively on agricultural production in the area,” Mcheka Chilenje said.

The new Member of Parliament said she has all the hope that the current government will assist her to fulfill her plans.

Mcheka Chilenje has won as an independent defeating former parliamentary Frank Viyazyi among others.
