Mamaye fundraises for Kabudula Health Centre

Mamaye a non-governmental organisation concerned with maternal and neonatal health, has embarked on a week-long fundraising campaign for Kabudula Health Centre’s maternity ward in Lilongwe.

Mamaye communications officer Mwereti Kanjo said in an interview the campaign started Saturday with a big walk from Old Town Hall through Crossroads Hotel to Area 18 A, raising about K83 000.

“Our target is to raise at least over K 150 000. We will approach various organisations and individuals who might be interested in our cause,” said Kanjo.

She said the big walk was an initiative by students from Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) Lilongwe Campus alongside their counterparts from Kamuzu College of Nursing (KCN).

Pachi works in collaboration with over 300 health activists nationwide, who voluntarily commit themselves to the maternal health initiative cause.

The organisation — which organises monthly seminars on maternal and child health — also works in collaboration with Ministry of Health and the paediatrics department at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH).
