MP Mughogho says ‘I never failed MSCE’
Chitipa South (Nthalire) Member of Parliament (MP), Chimango Mughogho has denied that he presented a fake Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) to the Malawi Electoral Commission to participate in the 2009 parliamentary elections.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Nyasa Times after reports emerged that the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) is probing her for allegedly using fake credentials to gain admission into Parliament; Mughogho said her conscious was clear because she has the MSCE certificate.
“I have an MSCE certificate,” the lawmaker said.
“I obtained my MESCE certificate in 1990 at Phwezi Private secondary school and you can check the authentification of it with Maneb (Malawi National Examinational Board,” she said.
She stressed “The investigations will be [useless] because I do possess an MSCE certificate.”
“I never failed in my bid to obtain MSCE,” she insisted.
ACB investigators are reported to have visited Chitipa and Phwezi school to check records showing the 1990 MSCE results specifically looking for Mughogho.
