MP Ngwira ‘uses Ambi shubaba’; PP slurs DPP members’ sexuality

The campaign for Mzimba by-elections has started heating up as ruling PP Deputy Secretary General Harry Mkandawire went to town attacking DPP male members of being fastidious about their grooming.

Mkandawire singled out DPP regional governor for north Rev.Christopher Mzomera Ngwira MP, saying he is metro-sexual.

“He uses Ambi Shubaba despite being a man,” said Mkandawire.

Ambi Shubaba is a skin-whitening cream which breaches the face. It is mostly used by women.

Ngwira: Metro-sexual?

The desires for lighter skin have been raised with the belief that a fairer complexion equates to beauty.

Mkandawire was hitting Ngwira in retaliation to his attacks that PP government wants to legalise homosexuality.

The PP deputy secretary general said actually, the DPP was harbouring gays and bisexuals in its top ranks, saying Ngwira’s sexuality raises questions and wondered if he is not flirting with his party leader – Professor Peter Mutharika.

Mutharika lost his wife of 30 years and he has three grown children in the United States where he lived for decades before returning home to join politics. He is in “an open relationship” with Balaka female MP Grace Maseko but continue to attract rumours on his sexual orientation.

Mkandawire told another meeting addressed by Vice President Khumbo Kachale that Mutharika has “never been seen with a woman” in public.

DPP has been accusing President Mrs Joyce Banda for planning to legalise homosexuality in Malawi.

Ngwira addressing a meeting in Mzimba South West constituency accused the PP government of promoting same-sex liaisons.

By-elections in two vacant constituencies in Mzimba District – described as a test of legitimacy for the PP -will be held on October 19, 2012.

Mzimba Central Constituency fell vacant on Christmas Eve last year following the death of its legislator, Professor Donton Mkandawire, whereas Mzimba South West became vacant after the appointment of Khumbo Kachali as Malawi’s Vice-President in April this year.

PP which came to power in April after the death of president Bingu wa Mutharika and has no elected Member of Parliament (MP) as it has never won an election.
