Government has moved Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo to the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) where he will be operating as Director of Budget Analysis.
Spokesperson at the OPC Arthur Chipenda has confirmed the development.
“He has moved to project implementation, monitoring and evaluation unit in the OPC,” said Chipenda.
“The Unit where Mphwiyo has moved to is headed by a Principal Secretary,” said Chipenda adding that “he is moved at the same level”.
Mphwiyo was shot three times by unknown thugs at his Area 43 residents in the capital city-Lilongwe and was flown to South Africa for medication.
It was suspected that he was attacked due to his strong stance and control of government finances regarding his role then as Budget Director.
His shooting was also linked to some dubious mismanagement of funds and government fund looting at the capital hill offices.
Meanwhile, Mphwiyo has dismissed that he was part of the cash gate scandal that has led to the loss of Billions of Kwacha’s.
