Mpulula not cleared to play for Tigers, claims Blue Eagles

  • They are conniving with Silver- Tigers

Blue Eagles FC say they did not clear striker Chikondi Mpulula to play for Azam Tigers and are accusing Tigers of illegally featuring the player in their TNM Super League game against Silver Strikers.

But Tigers have hit back at the police sponsored outfit, claiming they got clearance from Eagles camp to use the player. The Leo Mpulula side suspects there is a plot between Blue Eagles and Silver Strikers to rob Tigers of the valuable three points collected after beating the
central giants last Saturday.

In an interview monitored on Zodiac Radio’s TNM Soccer Show, Blue Eagles vice chairman Deputy Commissioner Davie Medi said his side never cleared Mpulula to play for Tigers.

Sulom boss William Banda: Yes to make his position

“We did not clear Mpulula to play for Azam Tigers and we were very surprised to hear the player featured for Tigers against Silver. When Tigers approached us that they wanted to take the player on board, we told them to first pay for the bills our club incurred at Area 18
Lodge, where we were keeping the player.

“The money has not been paid and it is surprising to us that they have started using the player,” said Medi.

But Tigers boss Sydney Chikoti argued during the same programme that Mpulula was duly cleared by his team to play for Tigers.

“We got clearance from Blue Eagles to use the player. Blue Eagles took one of our players Macium Mhone and we agreed with them to swap the two players. Actually, Blue Eagles were supposed to pay us because in our discussions, we agreed that Blue Eagles should pay us some money in addition to the swapping deal,” said Chikoti.

The Tigers boss felt the issue was coming up because his side had defeated a Lilongwe team- Silver Strikers.

“We are wondering why this issue is coming after we have beaten Silver. We used Mpulula against Bullets last week and nobody came complaining,” charged Chikoti.

Super League of Malawi (Sulom), whose secretary general William Banda had been out of the country last week is yet to make its position on the wrangle.
