Comedian Rowan Atkinson escaped death Wednesday night after crashing with his McLaren F1 sports car.
The 56-year-old British actor is famed across the globe for his roles playing clumsy TV character Mr Bean and Johnny English in the eponymous spoof spy film franchise.
According to UK’s The Sun newspaper, Mr Bean was in his McLaren F1 – one of just 100 in the world – when it spun three times, ran into a tree and hit a signpost before catching fire in Cambridgeshire, England.
The paper reported that he survived “with a minor shoulder injury” and a picture his car crash was posted on Twitter.
He was taken to Peterborough City Hospital.
The Sun reported that he later spoke of his embarrassment, admitting “The prang was embarrassingly low-speed and therefore not related to my handling of the car, thank God.
“I was very, very lucky,” he blushed.
