Msakakuona appointed coach for Malawi U-17: Mike Banda is team manager

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced the appointment of Blue Eagles Coach Derklerk Msakakuona as Malawi Under 17 national team coach.

Msakakuona will take charge of the Junior Flames as they start preparations for the COSAFA Youth Championship on Sunday 16th July, 2016 at the Mpira Village in Blantyre.

According to a statement released by Football Association of Malawi and made available to Nyasa Times on Monday, Msakakuona will be assisted by Tione Mhone while Heathwin Nkumbaleza will be the goalkeeper trainer.

Mike Banda of Kamuzu Academy has been entrusted with the task of Team Manager.

FAM is therefore calling upon all talented players to attend trials to be conducted on Wednesday and Thursday to select players to go into camp.

“All players eligible to participate in the trials must be born on or after 1st January, 2000” reads part of the statement.

The players will undergo screening before the trials commences and are being asked to bring over their personal identities including passports, birth certificate and a school ID accompaned by a letter
from the head teacher of their school.

The trials will be held at Mpira Village and Zomba Community Centre ground in the Southern Region, Nkhaka ground in the centre and Mzuzu Stadium in the Northern Region.

The Junior Flames will take part in this year’s Cosafa Youth Championship scheduled to take place between 22 and 31 July 2016 in Mauritius.
