Msakakuona says Blue Eagles for title glory: Malawi TN, Super League
With few games remaining before the end of the 2016 TNM Super League season, Blue Eagles Coach Declerk Msakakuona HAS acknowledged that his side can win the title and that they will fight up until the last drop.
Msakakuona was speaking to Nyasa Times ahead of their upcoming fixture against league leaders Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday. He said his team is in pole position to win the league this season and is aware of how crucial winning the remaining games will be if they are to achieve the feat.
“We are in a very good position to win the league. This could be our season and we are really focused to win our remaining games starting with Saturday’s meeting with KB.
“We know they will come flat out on us having lost to Wanderers in a cup final. However, this will be a different game and I don’t think we can fail to arrest them at our own ground,” said Msakakuona.
Meanwhile, Msakakuona has vowed to end Blue Eagle’s bad run against defending TNM super league Champions Nyasa Big Bullets at the Kamuzu Stadium when the two sides meet on 31 December.
“We have never beaten Bullets in my career at Kamuzu stadium in a league encounter and this could be the season. I can assure you that we are ready to die for the title. They (Bullets) are in contention for the title too but we are not afraid because we are in good spirits to turn the tables now,” Msakakuona said.
Blue Eagles are third on the league standings with only a point behind league leaders Kamuzu Barracks and could leapfrog them with a win on Saturday.
Msakakuona has always deflected talk of finishing the year on top of the table, even though Blue Eagles have been there for most of the the season.
But now he said Eagles will go straight away to try to win the title.
