Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology have finally released the much awaited Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination results with 54.8 percent pass rate.
According to a statement from Maneb made available to Nyasa Times, out of 130, 293 candidates
who wrote the examination, 71,486 have qualified for the award of MSCE certificate, representing 54.8 percent pass rate.
Only 26 candidates were disqualified for the award of the MSCE certificate for failing to adhere to examination regulations.
Maneb indicates that female candidates managed to get 46.94 percent pass rate as 27,306 out of 58,170 candidates passed the examination.
“Out of 72,123 male candidates who sat for the examination in at least six subjects including English, 44,180 have qualified for the award of MSCE, representing 61.26 percent,” reads in part the statement.
It said 45,325 internal candidates have passed out of 77,621 who sat for the examination, representing 58.39 percent pass rate while out of 25,467 external candidates 12,538 passed, representing 49.23 percent.
This year’s results have seen a rise in the pass rate comparing to last year’s where 66,853 out of 127 383 candidates passed the examination, representing a 52.48 percent pass rate.
Meanwhile, Maneb and the Ministry said the examination results will be posted to all examination centres and have advised candidates with queries to write the Maneb by November 13th, 2014.
