Mtambo’s newly-appointed PA resigns: Lyson Sibande haunted by past Facebook posts

Personal Assistance (PA)  for  Minister of Civic Education and Unity Timothy Mtambo, Lyson Sibande has resigned  as his appointment received mixed reactions from the general public.

Lyson Sibande: I am ashamed

Many claimed Sibande is  Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) operative who has been a critic to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as well as his vice Dr. Saulos Chilima.

“It is with great regret, that after some deep reflection on my past and soul searching, I have decided to resign from your office as Personal Assistant,” reads part of the letter by Sibande addressed to Mtambo.

According to Sibande, there are several of his past Facebook posts where he wrote negatively about Chakwera and Chilima, and at some point he also wrote negatively about former president Joyce Banda and Peter Mutharika.

“I am very ashamed about the mistakes I made and I plead with you to convey my apologies to the State President, the Vice President and the former Presidents. I did not mean to harm them, but I got carried away with social media activism,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sibande said he will continue serving his position as Deputy Communications and PR Strategist for (Citizen for Transformation (CFT).

“If it pleases you, honorable, I would like to keep my position in CFT so that I can continue to work with you as you help President Chakwera to create a better Malawi Okomera Tonse,” said Sibande.

Chickens have come home to roost. Good riddance for a man who was a dedicated cadet. He got what he deserved.

Please completely get rid of this traitor. He is a cadet and belongs to DPP. This just shows how these new ministers of Tonse Alliance are picking
wrong people without security vetting.
Please government through police criminal department must check personal records of people being recruited to work with top officials not just recruiting zighawenga ngati ameneyu.
Is it wakwithu syndrome again.

I do understand Mtambo’s position as his ministry dictates. He is responsible for Civic Education and national unity. He needs to reach out to enemies and critics to unify the country as one Malawi and as such, setting examples start with him.

What Mtambo has done is what is called “Shame the Devil”, “Wakwiya ndi Mfiti”. Please appoint Gilezida Wa Jeffrey as replacement to prove this theory beyond any reasonable doubt.

Our big politicians, let’s learn from these new young folks. Their integrity is promising
