Mulewa elected president of Institute of Internal Auditors

Kingsley Mulewa, an auditor at Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperative (Muscco) has been elected Institute of Internal Auditors Malawi (IIA), a national registered professional body dedicated to the promotion and development of the internal audit profession in Malawi.

Mulewa was ushered into office during the 2011 Internal Audit Annual Conference held in Mangochi at the weekend, replacing Tiwonge Kalua.

He says he has set his target on increasing membership of the organisation by a minimum of 100 additional members.

Mulewa, who served as IIA vice-president over the past two years, will also focus on improving the organisation’s secretariat through, among other things, ensuring conducive accommodation and other operational assets.

The new IIA president also indicated that he would like to see the implementation of a Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) monitoring mechanism within the country those sitting for CIA examinations have to travel to Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

“It is my wish to serve the institute of internal auditors as its president with honour and dignity befitting such a noble office and appeal to all of you to support our cause,” said Mulewa.

He also said he will also ensure that IIA Malawi is the leading agency and focal point for all internal audit matters in Malawi.
