Muluzi relation take a swipe at Zodiak, social media users over false engagement story
Former President Bakili Muluzi relations on Wednesday came out of their silence to hit at privately owned Zodiak and some social media users for alleging that the retired head of state had an engagement during the Christmas festive holiday.
Tailosi Bakili, a relation to Muluzi said on his Facebook wall on Wednesday he did not understand why Zodiak radio kept on airing the false news about the former head of state engagement when clarification was already made that Muluzi did not have an engagement.
Later Bakili a trained broadcaster himself, posted another one which reads, “Stop the rumours that Dr Bakili Muluzi had an engagement last week. The reports are false. Read the Nyasa Times and understand why the lady in question was at BCA. Use the social media responsibly osati kuti tazioneranji.”
Zodiak had been carrying the story for the past days which said the former president’s picture with a lady had ignited debate on social media about his romantic life.
However, Nyasa Times carried a story which identified the lady as trained lawyer Happiness Mwase, chairperson of Malawians living in Ireland who had come to Malawi on holiday and thought of paying a courtesy call on Muluzi.
Some communications and public relations experts have faulted the office of the former president for mishandling the whole issue.
The office did not come up with an official statement refuting the allegations, even Muluzi himself, who has confessed is on Facebook, Twitter and social media, has not come out to refute the allegations.
Muluzi divorced his first wife Anne who is now in the US and second wife, Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri now a legislator.
It was interesting to observe that a lot of unmarried, divorced or widowed women were angered to hear that Muluzi had engaged with the alleged young woman. The truth about this is that most of the angry women wondered why Muluzi went for the young woman when they in fact felt he should have gone for them

Fuck it folks, people have the right to choose who to love and when to love people they love so stop this obsession shit otherwise muluzi happens to be the most friendly president that Malawi ever had. He also happens to be my personal favourite ill regardless.

Tailosi Bakili is the one saying his uncle did not have an engagement. But what about the chair himself. What is his comment? What about the woman in the picture? What is her comment? Who leaked the pictures? Or where they leaked to gauge public opinion. I saw the picture and it was clear that the Chair was putting a ring on the womans finger. So how can we justify the ring picture? Zodiak as quick broadcasters had to raise an alarm. Moreover, I have a lot of love for Dr Bakili Muluzi and he has every right to be married. If there is an engagement, why not just make it public because we Malawians want to know which woman is staying with our beloved former head of state. So u can see that as Malawians, we are have a stake in Dr Muluzi’s life.
