Mutharika appoints Dausi head spy, Kachama deputy police chief: Bamusi now aide
President Peter Mutharika has made new appointments which has seen his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesman taking the post of Director General of National Intelligence Bureau.
According to Chief Secretary to Government, Hawa Ndilowe, in a statement, Dausi takes over the position “with immediate effect.”
Dausi replaces former Inspector General of Police, Joseph Airon, who was head of the State spying agency.
Commenting in the appointment to Nyasa Times, Dausi said “it has pleased His Excellency the President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to appoint me in that capacity, I am grateful and will serve diligently.”
Ndilowe said President Mutharika made the appointments “in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 89(1) d of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi.”
In the new appointments, President Mutharika has appointed Lexten Kachama as Deputy Inspector General of Police responsible for Operations.
He has also hired economist Mabvuto Bamusi as Special Assistant to the President on for Non-Governmental Organisations.
