Mutharika appoints Gideon Munthali as Malawi director of information
President Peter Muthatrika has appointed journalist Gideon Munthali as director of information.

Munthali, a former reporter at Nation Publications Limited, joined the civil service and became deputy director of information on February 2, 2015.
He has been acting in the position of director of information after the then director Bright Molande was appointedPresident Mutharika’s spin doctor at State House.
According to Munthali, his appointment is with effect from January 20, 2017.
He will be operating from Ministry of Information, Communication and ICT which is now headed by Nicholous Dausi.
