The law provides that leaders of political parties represented in parliament submit the names to him before the head of state makes the final appointments.

Press Secretary Mgeme Kalirani said the President received the names on Friday and he was going through them.

“It is now that he has all the names. He is going through them and pretty soon he will make the appointments,” said Kalirani.

He could however not give a time limit as to when exactly Mutharika would make the appointments, saying the law does not give the State President time limits on such appointments.

Mutharika promised to appoint a new set of commissioners before the expiry of the current ones whose tenure of office expired on Thursday and chairman of MEC Maxon Mbendera said the commissioners were up for another term.

Wow! No comment on this article? Not surprising though. Malawians are not nationalistic but regionalist and have partisan brains and eyes. This article has no comments because it’s the opposition parties who have delayed the process of appointing new MEC commissioners. It’s a curse to be a leader of this cursed country with it’s ignorant and miserable people who even do not know what they want.
