Mutharika cheers JZU Tembo at his retirement home
Mutharika visited Tembo immediately after presiding over the launch of ‘National Peace Policy and Commemoration of 2017 International Day of Peace’ at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in the capital city.
The President said he has very good ties with Tembo, popularly known as JZU, and that the two communicate once in a while.
The Malawi leader said he has known JZU for a long time starting from his school days at Dedza Secondary School.
“I have great respect for him dating back to secondary school when he (Tembo) had just graduated from the university. He was my student teacher but also we have been together in politics, so I just decided to come and greet him today,” he said
Mutharika said him and the likes of Finance Minister, Goodall Gondwe and Ambassador Ron Nkomba, benefitted a lot from JZU at Dedza secondary and that he was pleased to see him in good health.
“We have benefitted a lot from him and I am so pleased to have come over to see him. He looks very well and we had a wonderful conversation,” said Mutharika.
Born in 1932, Tembo is no longer in active politics having served for years as president of the MCP. He was succeeded by Reverend Dr. Lazuras Chakwera prior to 2014, tripartite elections in which Mutharika emerged victorious.
State House press office said their chat was private but said what happened is a sign of friendliness.
When was the last time Chakwera visited Tembo? Just because he is married to Sadik Mia Tembo is now useless. People of Mayani are said to be addicted to anything which smells MCP obviously because of Baba Tembo. But why the loss in those bye-elections? Baba Tembo wanted to teach Chakwera a lesson. Chakwera does not know how to respect the elders. If he is not careful he will be disconnected from the whole district. This meet is not for nothing.

The maturity of DPP is in its silence when one Chakwera goes ranting. People in MCP are immature in politics. Somebody fooled Chakwera that for one to be a president, he should first of all be arrested. Chakwera always tries his best to dish out shit in order that he may be arrested and as such, gain some cheap popularity. DPP has squared him smartly on this one. Even if he defalcates on the road, he will just be as useless as one mad man Vincent Wandale.
Kuwina by- election mpaka nkumazipopa kuti angalamulire? MCP wnot contain the campaign heat for the whole country, mark my words. Go to remote rural areas in the Southern Region and mention MCP, you will see people running away.

Mr Mkaka, the President visited Tembo as a private citizen of this country. Before he become the leader of MCP he was the private citizen of Malawi. When he was teaching at Dedza secondary school, he was doing so as a private citizen of Malawi and not as a leader of MCP.
We know Mr Mkaka was scared that Mutharika would inform Tembo that MCP, motsogozedwa ndi Chakwera, ayamba kuba madzi Ku LWB. Being a private visit, the president did not inform JZU. Koma ife timulembera kalata mkuluyu kuti akudzudzuleni musiye kuba madzi.
Kunena zoona DPP sikutithandiza. Komanso MCP ndiye ilibe zokamba. Nanga pali nkhani apa? MCP President ndi ma MP Ku parliament angokamba zopanda ndi mchere omwe. Chimwendo said ‘your president is in mental hospital” koma zoona? Zithandiza chani.

While I appreciate the gesture, the visit is not in good faith. Peter wants to use Tembo to steal some MCP MPs in order to have numbers for his party in Parliament because he knows though retired Tembo commands unique respect from some MCP MPs. I am very sure a big khaki enveloped dropped on the floor from Peter’s pocket during the visit. These people will try everything possible to destabilize and weaken the opposition with the money they are stealing from us so that they can have an easy ride. You should not take Kasaira seriously when he said hand-outs should be banned. DPP will be distributing hand-outs at night because it believes this is the only way it can survive the odds.
Anything without proper protocol is questionable. Too much of everything is dangerous. Or, every extreme can be fatal.
The desperation observed in Mutharika is helping not only MCP but the ordinary citizens who feels the pains of DPP government.
This unprotocol visits speaks louder and I can bet you, he won’t have a better outcome. It is veinless endeavor

Yes Mutharika has met JZU at the very right time. everybody can agree that JZU as well as Gwanda Chakuamba were responsible leaders of opposition. Samatukwana Pulesident ; they had no personal grage against the incumbent presidents as it is with this Chakwara. They had no spirit of anger against govnt or president like Chakwera. Chakwera is the most vocal or angriest L.O.Opposition in the history of Malawi. His two predecessors were true statemen than this power hungry man. watikwana; even Jessie Kabwira can talk better responsibly than this man. He thinks by talking so tough he might be popular. you will all be disappointed. You can be enemies or opponents in politics but you do not need to be enemies personally. JZU is by far a statesman and was a responsible opposition leader who was not targetting personalities but governance and rule of law.
