Malawi President Peter Mutharika is scheduled to attend a night of prayer event organised by the local clergy on Friday April 1 in Blantyre  following an alleged prophecy  by Nigerian ‘prophet’ T.B Joshua that Mutharika would die before April 1, 2016.

Mutharika recently dubbed  Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, as a ‘fake man’, following an alleged prophecy that the Malawi leader would die.

The President did not say when or where Joshua made the latest prophesy, he however recalled that in 2012, the controversial Nigerian preacher reportedly predicted the death of Mutharika’s brother, Bingu, who was president at the time, and died within the predicted time frame, giving the said prophesy strong belief in Malawi.

“Let me tell you, Joshua… you will fail. What you did in 2012 will not happen again this year,” Mutharika said recently  in the capital Lilongwe.

Organisers of the night of prayer event said the clergy will be asking God to bless  Mutharika  with more wisdom to run the country .

During an all night prayer , faith leaders will also ask God to “bless the country” on several aspects, including peace, political stability, saying the Almighty was the only one with capacity to solve problems afflicting mankind.

The country is experiencing brutal killing of albinos, same sex relationships, plundering of government resources is continuing, wanton cutting down of trees that has been one of the contributing factors of climatic change and abortion, among others.

Oganisers said the night of prayers  will be led by pastors from different Pentecostal churches to  be spiced up with some worship songs and speaking in tongues.

They are also open to each and every well-meaning Malawian even those whose church is not part of those leading.

  26. Personally I am of the view that TBJ is taking a calculated guess every number of years and then hopes that everybody will forget should he have been wrong. With Bingu his luck was in and how knows his luck may be in again as both APM and Mugabe are old dilapidate and may fall over any day.

  27. I wish to commend the organizers of the night of prayer event for probably recognizing the fact that Malawi is in a fierce tug of war between two opposite powers, howbeit, spiritual in nature. I read an article recently on the BBC NEWS website that was talking about the dire health care service situation in Syria after five years of a ruthless civil war. What bothered me was the similarities in the statics gave that resounded very much like the current Malawian health care situation. Allow me to quote directly from this UN (Physicians of Human Rights):
    ” More than 50% of hospitals and health centres are either partially functioning or completely out of service” Source UN.
    My mind quickly turned to our Malawi health care service situation and it immediately dawned upon me that this article could well fit our Malawi situation as it were. Then as I thought more deeply, I said to myself, wait a minute, but Malawi is not in a savage civil war situation or is it really not? This is where this night of prayer event might suitably fit in. These battles call for spiritual solutions. The Syrian combatants may well be at an advantage because they can visibly see their enemy. It is very different with the Malawi situation, here the enemy attacking the Malawi nation is very much an invisible spiritual entity.
    This enemy interestingly is producing the same devastating hardships upon the Malawi citizenry in almost the same manner as the cruel Syrian civil war has done to the Syrian citizenry. May I therefore call upon all and sundry serious prayer warriors in Malawi as well as all over Africa and the world to join these people who are going to engage in this well meaning battle for the soul of Malawi on the 31st of March, 2016.   102. Nyasatimes can u please verify the prophecy because it is always confusing when you indicate that TB Joshua prophesied that Peter Mutharika will die. I can’t remember TB Joshua mentioning the name of a particular leader let alone Peter Mutharika.

    That aside, if it is destined that indeed Peter would die within the predicted time frame then with or without night of prayers it will still occur. I am saying all of this because the article headline says Mutharika will attend the prayers to shame TB Joshua ….. is Joshua the Messiah? Did in his prophecy give a condition of attending night of prayers can change the destiny?

    If APM attends prayers that is his business not Joshua ‘s. He should not be accepted paranoid after all he is the president but seems he is spending sleepless nights over the prophecy. mind u it said before end of April. … We are all anxiously waiting to see what transpires within the specified frame frame of time.

  122. Long leave our presidents, who ever the president is for Malawi, our prayers are that they must complete thier term of office to complete their agenda. It’s not easy and cheap to lose a president in the middle of the term . Malawians should be given some respect for electing a president.
