Mutharika says honeymoon delayed: US trip had tight schedule
Malawi President Peter Mutharika has said he is yet to go for a honeymoon with his newly-wed, Getrude Maseko, saying the he could not have time for a honeymoon on his United States trip.
The Malawi leader returned on Sunday from United States where he was among the 49 African heads of state to attend the first ever US-Africa summit which US president Barack Obama hosted.

Speaking to reporters in Lilongwe on Tuesday when he addressed a news conference, Mutharika said the US trip was a tight schedule throughout; even joking that he did not even have the time to buy himself a necktie.
“I went to USA for real business, I was having various meetings. It was meeting after meeting; just as it has been indicated in the communiqué,” said the 74-year-old Mutharika.
I just want you, and the nation to know that contrary to what others kept fuelling behind, I, together with my wife, didn’t go to the US on a honeymoon. We are yet to,” said Mutharika.
Mutharika then directed his Ministers and their principal secretaries to submit to ministry of trade all foreign investment opportunities.
“I am giving you 30 days to finish this exercise,” said Mutharika.
