Mwafulirwa, whose return to action was delayed after failing to agree on terms with his former club Silver Strikers last season, will also double as assistant coach to Alex Ngwira.

Mzuni General Secretary Alfred Mtungapera Harawa said the former South Africa top league outfit Jomo Cosmos star would bring along with his experience.

“He is a professional who has played at high level. We are optimistic that young players would be looking for up to him for guidance,” Harawa said.

Mzuni are also set to sign Lazarus Nyamera who was been transfer listed by Silver and Henry Mushindo from Super League relegated side Dedza Young Star.

Russell formed a deadly combination with fading star Esau Kanyenda as national football team lethal strikers.

He was part of the Malawi’s member at 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola for the country’s only second appearance since 1984 at Africa greatest football festival.
