Mwanamvekha pays tribute to Mutharika for extraordinaire politics as he garners support for DPP presidency

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential aspirant Joseph Mwanamvekha on Monday wound up his hectic party campaign in Lilongwe with a tribute to former president Peter Mutharika, describing him as a politician extraordinaire.

Mwanamvekha who is also the DPP legislature in Chiradzulu south constituency and spokesperson on finance in the August House said he is humbled with the overwhelming support received from the grassroots DPP committees
Mwanamvekha:  We will propel DPP back to power

Mwanamvekha said in Lilongwe rural and urban that the fact that Mutharika managed to bring the DPP out of opposition benches back into the ruling seat in 2014, means Mutharika was not just an ordinary politician.

“He has outstanding political leadership skills which have created a conducive environment for inclusive politics” said Mwanamvekha.

Mwanamvekha said once voted as DPP president, he too would bring back the party from the opposition into government.

He described Mutharika as a leader with impeccable credentials.

“APM (Mutharika) managed to lead the party back to the government after the sudden death of our political legend who is also a founder of DPP Professor Bingu wa Mutharika. As such APM is regarded as a political giant of our time,” said Mwanamvekha.

Mwanamvekha said as a party in opposition, the DPP is optimistic of reclaiming the ruling status after the next general elections.

“We are currently capitalizing on the political wisdom of our leader APM to help steer the party to the government again,” he said.

Mwanamvekha is likely to battle it out with Daliso Kabambe and Kondwani Nankhumwa among others for the DPP top job.

.y advice to Mwananvekha is that he should stop glorifying APM and riding on his back. Mwananvekha should just be himself. Most people know that Mutharika was a total failure and there is very little or nothing any prospective Malawi leader can learn from him.

DPP must wait for Soulos Chilima to govern Malawi for ten good years then maybe things will change, otherwise these fucking Llomwe thieves hve no fucking chance. Remember, Chilima is from Central region and the only party without strong hod is UTM, Mark my words

DPP need new blood. All guys who made APM fail..must excuse themselves and support new dawn in DPP. If these guys had substance at all, Malawians would have thought otherwise. But they felt garbage was better than these DPP old guards. Please pave way for new blood and take back stage! Losing a govt that you were a key player..it means you overated yourselves. Support New blood Now! DPP spokes person an expired politician too much hated in Malawi but unashamedly took the position instead of understanding people will run away from DPP just because of him being spokesperson.NO! we… Read more »

Stop wasting your time and money a d just support Dalitso Kabambe. He os the only viable candidate for the opposition to reclaim glory. Mwanamvekha is a great follower, not a great leader. His supporting role will help DPP a lot. Right now the mismanagement of political power coupled with Covidgate has given DPP a new lease of life. Capitalise on it, the Alliance is now evidently divided and its just a matter of time before everything crumbles. The centre cannot hold and centre, l mean the central region party.

Anzeru ndinu, DPP will never come back into power again. Hve u forgotten that Malawians voted DPP because of Bingu Wamutharika’s sound leadership? We thought Peter Mutharika will b like his brother, but alas, the guy knows fuck all about being a president and he proved to be a waste of time.

That’s good for Mwanamvekha to do that. However in this age of Covid 19 I find such gatherings defying the preventative measures. On the same let me inform human rights organisation that it seems Malawi is in a State of Emmergency in as far as police are treating anyone found at night. So many road blocks are mounted where any person is asked to pay K2000 or is beaten. Teargas is thrown anyhow in residential areas where there are no people walking about as every one is asleep. Chakwera should explain properly

Do not be cheated, those measures as you have explained are probably happening as such in your residential community but not in our society at large. Yes, here and there, there is traces of police brutality citing enforcement of masks but not necessarily smoking the community with teargas in order to enforce covid related measures. I do not intend to play your point down, but rather to drive it home that the level of adherence and hence the efficacy of presidential directive bespeak of the fact that it could only work in his black and white dream, ending like the… Read more »
