Mzuni student escapes mob justice after laptop theft
Mzuzu University (Mzuni) student Kwenji Tembo was Wednesday night attacker by his fellow student for allegedly being involved in the theft of a laptop in the university library.
Tembo – a fourth year reading for Bachelor of Science Renewable Energy Technologies – was cornered by other student who threatened to lynch him.
He was detained in the library the whole Wednesday night by university staff to avoid the impending mob outside.
Tembo is said to have connived with an outsider to steal the laptop. The CCTV cameras in the library were used to unravel the whole ordeal, according to one of the student union leaders.
According to the student handbook, Tembo risks being suspended for over a year for his malpractice.

In case someone would want to know, this Tembo boy comes from Malizani vge, T.A. Mduwa in Mchinji district – it appears more talk is about what tribe he belongs to and not what he has done; this is what Malawi does, describing people not on basis of what they are but where they come from.

Please,let those can manage to import lap tops from out side do so and let the Government not charge them import taxes. By law in echange may be sold cheaply. this will help most students to have one lap top for their studies. Government can start importing from China and sell them in our institutions.

A university student who doesn’t know the library has CCTV…..what was he going to do with the laptop? Use it for a pillow? What an idiot. Glad his life was saved though, because a laptop in exchange for a human life is a cruel exchange.
