Nankhumwa defiant, promises to donate another K3.5mil bicycles to constituency

Cash-rich and powerful  Minister of  Local government  and rural development, Kondwani Nankhumwa has said he will make a K3.5 million bicycle donation to traditional leaders in his constituency despite the fact that his detractors report him to Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Cash-rich Nankhumwa

Writing on his Facebook wall, Nankhumwa said he will be saving K500,000 every month from his monthly salary of K1.2 million from February to August.

“I hope this notice my detractors shall never be burning with anger and jealousy to report the same to Anti Corruption Bureau,” he says.

He said his K500, 000 a month saving from February to August shall be K3.5 million, enough to buy 100 bicycles which cost at K34000 each.

Nankhumwa appeared before the graft busting body on Saturday to explain the source of his K21 million donation to his Mulanje Central Constituency on January 8.

In the post, Nankhumwa said he does not have much but believes in sharing the little he has.

His critics say his multimillion donations are suspicious as just two years ago he hardly had enough money to buy fuel during the election campaign.

Meanwhile, whistle blowers have promised to unmask Nankhumwa’s source of  sudden wealth.

” Africans are not fools…they know a corrupt individual once they see one” Barack Obama said this and its very true. For Mr Nankhumwa, please dont take us for fools we can tell whether you are telling the truth or not. We also know that while you are still in government you will never be prosecuted. However, dont forget that you are still young and if corrupt another government will take you to task one day(even 15 years from now).

I hope Mr. Nakhumwa wins in 2019 when the DPP is obviously exiting the stage. I would like to see him continuing making such donations when he is out of government. I pray he wins!!!!

Boss Nakhumwa you are sitting on a 5 year contract and this is time to save some cash otherwise we are not sure what will happen after 2019. In the same area we had a powerful man call BJ but where is he now. The other day I saw Jimmy Banda walking on foot and all this is due to politics. For your information, things have started changing in the fight against corruption so please be mindful when doing deals otherwise you will end up in prison. No one is greater than the system so please be mindful with your… Read more »

Who are you fooling Bwana Nankhumwa? We know this is one way of spending Cashgate money. You don’t reveal the nature of your business from which you will sustain K500000 monthly savings. You, Chaponda etc are indeed defiant just the way you treat your boss APM. Shame!!!

“The honourable members need the money to buy fuel from their respective constituencies to Lilongwe. They will need the money for food as soon as they arrive in Lilongwe,” – Major, MP.
This is how greedy and pathetic other MPs are, they cannot even plan for their own fuel to go to work!!! How can they manage to save for such donations. Lets give credit where credit is due. YOU DID WELL MR MP!!
But I have a little thought for you, empower your constituents to atleast one day buy those bicycles for themselves.
