    I am one for the great national unity, One Malawi, One nation, and truly believe in the fact that at the end of everything, ( all the diverse political affiliations, tribes, or religious beliefs), we are all Malawians.

    The only issue I do struggle to stomach is the fact that our leaders tend to offer selective justice.

    So perhaps Kondwani Nankumwa should also visit the victims of DPP thuggery, to seemingly balance his words of wisdom and gesture. Notwithstanding these facts,l do appreciate Mr. Nankumwa’s efforts, and that l recognise him as an amiable man.

    Otherwise, all of this looks like a “soliciting” and mere appeasing gesture.

28. If Malawi had investigative journalists we would all have known the truth about the so-called monitors who were beaten by the soldiers and citizens of goodwill. I am based in Zomba, Chinamwali, and I personally know some of the so-called monitors. Timachezera limodzi bawo pa Ayasi pamtengo wamango pa chinamwali opposite stage yopita ku Lilongwe. These people, the ex-soldiers, were sent to the central and northern regions to cause havoc and disrupt voting and not to monitor the election as alleged by Nankhumwa. They had their meeting at Naminyowe lodge, pa Sikinala, from where they were dispatchee to the central and northern regions. In fact, one of them decided to abort the mission at Songani after being warned by his daughter that their plan had been exposed by people of goodwill. Let anyone who can contradict my version come with evidence to the contrary. Here in Zomba town everyone knows what exactly happened and no amount of lies can twist the truth.

    Should we say people only know and feel the pain of political violence when they are not in power? Or should we say when politicians are in power think they will be there forever and violence will never affect them in any way?
