New ‘contract’ for JB in 2014, declares Chief Chikulamayembe
Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe of the Tumbuka tribe has declared that President Joyce Banda will be offered a new contract as Head of State and Government at the elections next year.
He was speaking at a Development rally that President Banda addressed at Bumba Model School Ground in Rumphi Central Constituency after she distributed cows to selected beneficiaries under the One-Cow-One-Family Project at Muhuju Trading Centre in the area of Sub T/A Mwahenga in Rumphi.
“The people of Rumphi, the Northern Region and the entire nation will vote Dr. Banda into office again in 2014,” said the Chief, known by his people as Themba La Mathemba, explaining President Banda has earned her five-year contract from 2014 because of the splendid manner in which she is completing the term of immediate past President late Bingu wa Mutharika, which had been messed up before she came in office.
“You have demonstrated that you deserve your own contract and you will be given one,” said Chikulamayembe.
The Chief said President Banda had registered excellent grades in ingenuity to solve problems; the talent and skill to engage and win-over people who had vowed never to deal with Malawi again; the resilience to remain the course in doing what she believes is right regardless of criticism; the humane nature to embrace all people without consideration of status and origin, and her fear for God.
“Your attitude has made us to re-discover our sense of belonging to the Malawian society once again because under your predecessor, we were almost outcasts,” lamented the Chief.
“You predecessor caused the death of our sons and daughters but never came here to condole with us. We will never forget this. It is you who, while facing your own difficulties, still found time to come and share in our pains,” recalled the Chief.
Earlier at Muhunju, President Banda announced the elevation of T/A Mwahenga to being Senior Chief.
