The newly elected Minister of sports and Civic education Enock Chakufwa Chihana told a local radio MIJ on Friday that his major task is to develop sports and soccer in particular which he says its levels has gone down comparing to the past.
He said his main task “is to improve all sports disciplines thus volleyball, netball and others but particularly soccer which has completely gone down.”
“I am yet to get into my office but I will try my best to find the cause of football’s low standard in our country,” he added.
The youthful minister said he will make sure that he serves the post with all his heart and to make sure that things goes in the right direction at all times in his ministry.
Chihana says he will also involve both international and local sports authorities to improve sports in the country.
Among other things, the new minister says he will also try to find sponsorship for the clubs.
Finally, Chihana has he is thankful to President Joyce Banda for entrusting him with the sports ministry.
Chihana has replaced Symon Vuwa Kaunda who instead of developing sports was busy politicking.
