Eye of the Child, a non governmental organisation has vowed to flash out all underage girls in drinking joints in Lilongwe.
Maxwell Matewere, Eye of the Child executive director said his organisation has a two year program to stop child trafficking within the country.
“We have observed that girls, some of them under the age of 18 are trafficked from rural areas to cities and end up in working in drinking joints. We will remove them and get them back to school if we can,” said Matewere.
He said this recently in Balaka where his team was meeting tradtional leaders to sensitize them on girl child trafficking.
Balaka and Machinga are said to be districts with high rates of trafficking.
Matewere therefore told the traditional leaders to be on the look out for child traffickers.
He said the core job will now be to flash out the girl employed in drimking joints, most of them shabeens in remote city places.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
