Sisqo Productions, a Nigerian owned promotion and events management firm, has partnered with Malawi’s Primic Incorporation and are bringing Nigeria’s young comedian Emmanuella to perform.in Blantyre and Lilongwe this weekend to mark this year’s World Comedy Day.
Christopher Tukochukwu, Sisqo Productions managing director said the shows are scheduled for Comesa Hall in Blantyre on June 30 and Bingu International Convention Centre (Bicc) in Lilongwe on July 1, the World Comedy Day.
He said the event is going to be held annually beginning this year.
According to organisers of the event, Sisqo Productions and Malawi’s Primic Inc, Nigerian young comedian is expected to perform alongside her compatriots such as Mark Angelo, Denlison Igwe as well as Malawi’s Afro pop musician Dan Lu and Mr Jokes.
“This is a special event in which comedy will come face-to-face with music,” he said.
Emmanuella is a young comedian whose repertoire appeals particularly to the youthful audience.
Tukochukwu said he holds Malawians artists in high esteem and would like to work with more of them.
“It depends with the response of the artists. How much they bring into my business. I run my company as a business,” said Tukochukwu.
Apart from the shows slated for June 30 at Comesa Hall and July 1 at the Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC), she will also visit two schools in Blantyre and Lilongwe.
“The school visits will depend on which one buys the largest number of tickets,” said Tukochukwu.
Primic Incorporation director Prince Chokhotho said there will also be a number of local artists on the scene most of whom are going to be identified through auditions at M-theatre in Blantyre this weekend.
“We’ve had world days passing without notice. We’ve celebrated them as a people in silence. We want to break this silence, and with this show we will expose new talent in comedy as a discipline,” said Chokhotho.
Sisqo Productions presently manages one of the hottest afro-pop stars Da Lu.
