Nollywood actor Van Vicker to visit Malawi

Malawian ladies, have you been dying to come face-to-face with Joseph van Vicker? Start preparing because your dream might just come true as the Ghanaian – one of the most adored Nollywood actors will soon be visiting the country.

The 34-year-old movie star will visit Malawi in April and is scheduled to be in the country for five days, dining and wining with his fans, courtesy of DStv provider MultiChoice Malawi.

He will be the second Nollywood star to be invited by MultiChoice Malawi following renowned Nigerian actress, Rita Dominic’s visit in 2009.

“The concept with Rita Dominic proved very successful that’s why we decided to bring another Nollywood star,” said the company’s sales and marketing manager for the Southern Region, Chimwemwe Nyirenda.

MultiChoice alongside Blantyre Newspapers Limited and Sunbird Hotels has since launched a promotion in the country which its main prize is a golden pass for people to enter two parties Vicker will hold.

“To enter the promotion, people need to subscribe to any of DStv bouquet from February to April. They also need to buy The Weekend Times [newspaper] and cut all ten Nollywood star posters that will be coming out and submit,” said Nyirenda.

He disclosed: “200 people will win golden tickets to a private party at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe and other 200 people to a party at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre.”

Apart from winning golden tickets to have private parties with the award-winning actor who has appeared in more than 100 movies, other Malawians will also have a chance of interacting with him at public parties.

Vicker’s fact file

Vicker started out in the entertainment world in radio and as a television personality. In 2009 he won the Best Actor (African film category), Afro-Hollywood Award 2009.

He has also been nominated to receive a special award, the African Channel Creative Award, at the 20th edition of the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) scheduled for February 10 in Los Angeles, California.

Vicker is married with children. He owns and runs “Sky & Orange”, an advertising agency and event management company; “Babetown”, a unisex barber shop; and the Van Vicker Foundation, an outreach program for upcoming young artists.
