Nomads receives boost ahead of Carlsberg tie with availability of three players

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers have received a boost after it was revealed that Francis Mlimbika is back in full training following his absence due to a groin injury, while Victor Nyirenda, Ishmael Thindwa and Alfred and Manyozo Jnr are also set to take part in Saturday Carlsberg Cup quarter final encounter against Dedza Young Soccer at Kamuzu Stadium.

The Nomads were forced to use right back Stewart Gerald in left defense , after Mlimbika’s injury , leaving them thin at the back.

The team was also delt with a big blow with the departure of their three realible strikers Jimmy Zakazaka, Muhammad Sulumba and Lionel Atsu.

However, the Nomads received a boost with news that three players, who were waiting for clearances Manyozo, Nyirenda and Thindwa have finaly being cleared and ready to play on Saturday.

“I am so delighted that three players have finaly being cleared. As the coach it always feels good to have a complete squad, a squad should give a coach headache in selection,” said Kananji.

On Mlimbika’s return, Kananji said, “He (Mlimbika ) is looking quite good and is possibly back for Saturday,” Kananji told Nyasa Times . “He should be in the squad.”

The Nomads biggest worry, however, is Jabulani Linje, who has driven the team forward in the first round ,as he is still nursing a harm string injury.

” He is looking better. He is still a doubt for Saturday. He’s is still nursing a harmstring injury.”

The Nomads do not have too many other worries, with goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa Lukasz available alongside the likes of Isaac Kaliati, Mike Kaziputa, Malumbo Gondwe, Jacob Ngwira.

“Kondwaniu Lufeyo is alright. Ibrahim Sadik is alright,” Kananji added. ” Mapopa Kaunda is available again and all the other players are alright.”

Meanwhile, Dedza Young Soccer coach Pofera Jegwe has urged all ganyu fans to come in their large numbers on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium to drum up support to the Irish Potato growing district out-fit.

Jegwe assured them of a Carlsberg Beer party after 90 minutes.

“We are geared for the Nomads. We want to write history on Saturday. We started with Tigers and Nomads are our next victim,” said Jegwe.

In other matches on Saturday, Moyale Barracks have a tricky fixture against Kamuzu Barracks, while on paper Silver Strikers have a simple task against Support Battalion.

On Sunday all roads in the capital city will lead to Civo Stadium, where cup holders Big Bullets will play Mafco.
