Kananji said Olashipe failed to make the grade.

“We have selected a strong squad and released those that have failed to make the grade this point in time,” Kananji said.

He, however, was impressed with another West African player Lionel Assu who has been signed.

The Nigerian is now trying his luck at Azam Tigers.

According to press reports, Wanderers have signed as free agents John Lanjesi and Jabulani Linje (from Civo United), Malumbo Gondwe (Azam Tigers), Jimmy Zakazaka, Rafik Mussa, Lionel Assu, Victor Nyirenda, Ibrahim Sadiki whereas Muhamad Sulumba (Blantyre United) and Peter Munthali (Chikwawa United) have come on loans.

Nomads have brought in over 13 new players. Hot prospects Isaac Kaliyati and Stanley Sanudi bought from Azam Tigers will cost some K12 million which also includes outstanding debts from the previous transfers of Mike Kaziputa, Kondwani Lufeyo and Kondwani Kumwenda.

  1. Why are our clubs trying to sign foreign players? How will this help develop the national team? I read English newspapers which allude that England does not perform as well as it should in International competitions because the clubs in the premier league sign too many foreigners.
