Golf Union of Malawi (GoUM) president Gabriel Kambale, on. Tuesday commended Airtel Malawi for bankrolling the union to enable the national team travel to Uganda to participate in the Zone IV event from 15 to 18 April, this year.
Airtel Malawi donated K4 million to GoUM.
Speaking to the media at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) before departure for Kampala, Kambalame : “We are grateful to Airtel Malawi, the company has demonstrated that they are real partners in time of need. However the only way to thank them is to fight lungs out and be at the good position.”
Golf Team manager Frank Mvalo said they want to be at a good position.
Airtel Brands and Communications Manager, Isabel Machinjika said the company is pleased to be associated with golf.
Machinjika said Airtel is always associated with winners and she was optimistic that the team will bring back good results.
Some of the members who are in the team include; Gabriel Kambale, Adam Sayilesi, Victor Kachepatsonga, Charles Kambalame, Kondwani Mpula, Frank Mvalo, a team manager and Golf Union President Mr Kambalame.
Airtel managing director Heiko Schlittke said the company had always enjoyed a good partnership with golfers; hence, the support towards golf.
“We appreciate their support to the brand; we salute their integrity and professionalism. We are also confident that they will do us proud in Uganda,” he said.
Fifteen teams from across Africa are expected to take part in this year’s edition of the tournament in Kampala.
