Nomads, Tigers win as Moyale hold Silver

Mighty Wanderers on Saturday defeated Zomba United 2-0 in an empty stadium at Balaka.

The Nomads, who lost 1-0 to Red Lions last Sunday, were fined for causing that game’s abandonment and ordered to play in empty stadium away on their home fixture after they were found guilty of perpetrating acts of violence and hooliganism.

The Lali Lubani Road outfit, who lost sponsorship from Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) in June this year, paid the K500 000 (about $2 994) penalty to the Super League of Malawi (Sulom)

And they were into real business on Saturday to claim maximum points.

However, discipline seems to be a major deficit in the club as the blues finished the match again with ten players after Maclean Salamu was shown a red card.

Nomads: Win in an empty stadium

Nomads scored their goals through Idrissa Walesi and Victor Mpinganjira.

Elsewhere, Eagles failed to advantage of home ground by losing 0-1 to Azam Tigers at Nankhaka Stadium.

The rejuvenated Kau-Kau boys under new coach Leo Mpulula netted their lone goal through a penalty taken by Mike Kaziputa. This was after a cop defender handled the ball in the 18 yard box.

In Mzuzu, Silver Strikers failed to maintain their 1-0 lead to drew 1-1 with Moyale Barracks.
