Nsanje DC Gift Lapozo dies: Burial Saturday at HHI Cemetery

District Commissioner for Nsanje, Gift Rapozo has died Thursday morning at Blantyre Adventist hospital where he was admitted for the past two weeks.

Spokesperson for Ministry of Local government and Rural Development, Muhlabase Mughogho has confirmed the death saying more details of the burial arrangement will be announced later.

Many journalists in Malawi will miss Rapozo for his readiness in providing information to the media.

Meanwhile, Nsanje District Chief Administration Officer (CAO) Redgson Mkolobwe, said

said according to family members, the burial of the long serving District Commissioner will take place Saturday at the Henry Henderson Institute (HHI) cemetery in Blantyre.

“The mourning place is Chileka where he built his home and burial will be at HHI on Saturday,” Mkolobwe.

Rapozo was born on November 6, 1969. He started working in government on March 1, 1993 as Assistant District Commissioner for Nsanje District.

He has worked for several districts in both capacities as Assistant District Commissioner and District Commissioner.

Some of the districts where he worked are Salima, Mwanza, Kasungu, Balaka, and Luchenza Municipality.

He hails from Lihiro Village, Traditional Authority Nkalo, Chiradzulu District. He survived by two daughters and a wife.
