Nyakwawa Usiwausiwa promoted to High Court deputy registrar

Blantyre Chief Resident Magistrate, Nyakwawa Usiwausiwa, has been promoted and appointed  as deputy registrar  at the High Court with effect from Wednesday July 11, 2012.

Usiwausiwa  – well known for giving lengthy prison sentences- has taken over the position previously occupied by Mike Tembo who is currently acting as the Registrar.

Following the appointment, Usiwausiwa has withdrawn himself from all cases he was handling at the magistrates court including the inquest of Robert Chasowa instituted by Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC).

Senior Magistrate Ligoya from Lilongwe is expected to take over as Chief Resident Magistrate at Blantyre Magistrates court.
