Nyasa Times sports reporter receives TNM Sapota Mapeto award
Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) on Wednesday awarded eight journalists, among them Nyasa Times reporter Yamikani Simutowe for their positive contributions towards the success of the 2015 Sapota Mapeto Promotion.
TNM, also sponsors of the Super League, gave out media awards in four categories namely print, radio, television and online.
Sapota Mapeto kicked off in June 2015 and ended on December 31 and the final (sixth) draw took place on Wednesday in Blantyre.
Simutowe was recognized as best online journalist while Malawi Broadcasting Corporation’ (MBC) Patrick Lunda came second. Joy Television’s Peter Fote was named best TV reporter with MBC Tv’s Simeon Shumba as runner’s up.
In print category, the awards went to Lusayo Kanyinka of Times Media Group and Solomon Manda of Nation Publications Limited (NPL) whereas Frank Kandu of MBC and Richad Tiyesi of Star Radio were named best reporter and runner’s up in radio category, respectively.
“We have rewarded the media practitioners their support and positive contributions towards the success of the promotion. Let me commend them for their remarkable contribution to the success of the promotion which we are celebrating today.
“Congratulations to all the outstanding individuals for the exceptional reporting. The media’s role towards success of any promotion cannot be over-emphasized,” said Jonazi.
The promotion targeted supporters of all the 15 super clubs; they were only required to send an SMS of their teams code to 1515 using the TNM network.
